Overview
Gambrel Roof Calculator (gambrelroofcalculator.com) is a static site — a set of pre-built HTML pages with no server-side application, no database and no user accounts. The roof calculators on this site run entirely in your browser: the numbers you type into a calculator are used to compute rafter lengths, angles, area and volume on your own device, and are never sent anywhere for us to see or store. This policy explains the little that is collected, and by whom.
Hosting and access logs
This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, a static-hosting platform. Because there is no backend, there is no application database and no server-side code capable of reading, storing or processing anything you type into a calculator. Like any web host, Cloudflare's infrastructure necessarily processes standard connection information to serve pages — things like IP address, browser type and requested URL — as part of delivering the page to you and protecting the site from abuse. We do not separately collect, aggregate or have direct access to raw server logs beyond what Cloudflare's own dashboard provides in the ordinary course of running the site.
Analytics
We use a standard, privacy-conscious analytics script to understand which pages are useful and roughly how many people visit them — the same kind of aggregate, non-identifying traffic data that almost every website collects. Analytics data is used only to see page-view counts and general traffic trends across the site; it is not used to build an individual profile of any visitor, and no attempt is made to identify you personally from it.
Cookies
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Any cookies set are limited to session or functional purposes — for example, remembering a UI preference such as your chosen unit system (imperial or metric) between visits, or basic security functionality provided by the hosting platform. No cookie set by this site is used to build an advertising profile or to track you across other websites.
Third-party services
The contact form on this site is handled by a third-party form service (Formspree). When you submit that form, the name, email address and message you provide are sent directly to that service and then forwarded to us by email — we do not otherwise collect or store contact-form submissions ourselves. No other third-party service on this site receives personal information you provide directly; the calculators themselves send nothing anywhere.
What we don't do
There are no user accounts, no login, no payment processing, and no server-side storage of calculator inputs or outputs on this site. We do not sell data. The only personal data collected is what you submit through the contact form, and we do not use it for anything beyond responding to your message.
Your choices
You can use every calculator on this site without submitting any personal information at all — the inputs stay in your browser. If you have already sent a message through the contact form and want it removed from our inbox, or have any other question about how this policy applies to you, reach out through the contact page and we'll handle it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a new analytics or form provider is added — this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
